Kenny Flanagan, 20, of Ambridge led all bowlers with an 836 series in the Monaca Community League at Baden Bowl. He rolled a 278 and back-to-back 279s.

“I was playing 15 board out to 6 board, and my speed was very consistent. I left a ringing 10 pin to start the night, and I missed the spare. Then I threw 10 strikes in a row and left a solid 7 pin. The next game, I had the first five, left another 7 pin and struck out. I left the pocket 7-9 split to start the third game and struck out. So many times I had 550 after the first two games and I missed the 800. I wanted to make sure I didn’t do it again. I just made good shots. That’s really all it was and I happened to carry them,” Flanagan said.

Flanagan tossed 32 strikes out of 36 balls for his 10th 800 set.

Bobbie Koscinski of West Pittsburg led the women with a 661 set in the Friday Night Classic League at Sims Lanes in Big Beaver. She rolled a 201, 258 and 202.

“In the second game, I had a spare early and a string of strikes. I screwed up in the 10th frame with another spare. I’ve been doing better since I’ve been subbing on Wednesdays. Bowling two nights a week really helps,” Koscinski said.

Two bowlers fired 299s: Erik Nielsen of Ellwood City and Bill Cain of Ambridge.

Nielsen, 37, rolled his 299 in the second game of the Monaca Community League.

“The first game, I was coming in light and leaving a lot of single pins. I moved left and threw more direct into the pocket. I struck out and continued striking in the second game. They were all solid until the first ball in the 10th. It hit high, and I got lucky. The last ball, I tugged it, it was high flush and I left a 4 pin,” Nielsen said.

Cain, 38, shot his 299 in the fourth game of the Competitive Doubles League at Beaver Valley Bowl in Rochester. He left a 7 pin on his last ball.

Jeff Walworth, 46, of Crafton rolled a 298 in the last game of the Monaca Community League.

“I slowed down too much on the last ball. It came up and I left the 4-7 pins,” Walworth said.
