LAS CRUCES, New Mexico – Relatives of the 29-year-old man killed in the parking lot of a former bowling alley told ABC-7 the victim was a loving husband and friend.

“I don’t want to accept that he’s gone, because he didn’t deserve it,” said Stephanie Garay, who identified herself as the victim’s sister. “It’s not fair.”

Multiple family members confirmed the man who died was 29-year-old Raymond Hernandez. They say he left behind a seven-year-old daughter.

“His baby girl, she never got to see him again, talk to him again,” Garay said. “Now, she doesn’t have her dead.”

Police have not yet confirmed the name of the victim.

“We’re still looking into all the details,” said police spokesman Dan Trujillo. “We found the victim in the parking lot.”

Police arrived on scene after 10:30 p.m., according to the department. Officers were dispatched to Martinez and Bowman Streets after receiving a report of shots fired in the area of the former 10 Pin Alley, which recently closed. Upon arrival, police say they found the body of a wounded 29-year-old man.

“He was taken to a local hospital and that’s where he died,” Trujillo said.

Police could not confirm how many times the man was shot. The department has yet to release the name of a suspect. If you have any information, please call the LCPD at (575) 526-0795.
