If you have some time to spare in May, you may want to consider signing up as a volunteer for the 2020 Special Olympics Spring Games.

Waterloo Regional Police will host the games from May 21-23.

The competition will bring more than 2,500 athletes, coaches, staff and volunteers to the region.

Athletes will compete in basketball, swimming, rhythmic gymnastics, powerlifting and 10-pin bowling.

The police service is looking for around 500 volunteers. You can help out in the following areas:

  • Scorekeeping and timekeeping
  • Referees and linespeople
  • Venue set-up and tear-down
  • Opening and closing ceremonies
  • Hospitality

More information can be found here.

You must be at least 16 years of age to volunteer – children aged 10 to 15 may volunteer with a parent/guardian in the Family Volunteer Program.
